Instructor Lori Ogelsbee, MJE, ushered out the primary portion of Walsworth’s Adviser Academy schedule with a wedding ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.
Pachelbel’s Canon in D played as advisers circled around the main ballroom. Ogelsbee looped a white string around each adviser’s ring finger as an instrumental version of Elton John’s “Your Song” was pumped over the speakers. “You are no longer in isolation from each other. You are an unbroken bond,” she reminded the group.
Ogelsbee officiated the ceremony, as advisers repeated back their pledge to create the best yearbook they could.
The advisers promised undying love and devotion to their school and the 2018 yearbook, and vowed to make their deadlines “in sickness and in health.”
Ogelsbee told the advisers to “remember your commitment” as she cut the string uniting the circle, declaring, “I now pronounce you yearbook advisers extraordinaire.”
The circle then dissolved into a dance party to the tune of “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson.
Adviser Academy will wrap up with an optional day on Thursday, with some advisers sticking around for additional tech training and others traveling to Marceline and Brookfield, Missouri for a plant tour of Walsworth’s printing facilities.
