A resource for Adviser Mentors

The Walsworth Yearbooks Adviser Mentor Program pairs inexperienced yearbook advisers with those who have been doing it for a while.

We want to make the first two years go as smoothly as possible, and sometimes that means putting our advisers in touch with someone who is in the classroom, day in and day out. Our yearbook reps can answer most questions, but it never hurts to have an added layer of support!

We are grateful for the mentors who volunteer their time. Jim Jordan, who heads the program, has now made the job even easier with the Year Timeline and Resource Guide for Mentors.

This eBook provides month-by-month instruction and advice to help mentors help their mentees. This is an excellent resource to keep on your desk and reference each month. Jordan provides reminders and resources that can be shared with mentees but are also helpful to mentors.

As a reminder, those who sign up as mentors in the Adviser Mentor Program are given access to Jordan and his 35 years of experience creating award-winning yearbooks. We ask that mentors meet these requirements:

  • Be a current Walsworth Yearbooks customer.
  • Have three or more years of yearbook advising experience.
  • Be willing to make one contact each month with your mentee. This can be a telephone call, email, text message or chat over coffee! Jordan provides suggestions for topics to check in on in the eBook.
  • Commit to being a mentor for the entire school year.

If you meet the requirements and are willing to help a new adviser have a great first year of yearbook, sign up for our program at walsworthyearbooks.com/adviser-mentor-program.
