Here’s a cool idea from the yearbook staff at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, for a way to put those unused photos that didn’t make it into the yearbook to use.
The First Flight staff was looking to make one final sales push as they headed into May with 100 copies of their book left to sell. Adviser Steve Hanf had the staff go through the unused images and find ones that potentially lent themselves to funny captions so they could create memes promoting their yearbook.
“The idea actually stemmed from a prom pic where a girl on staff was looking at a guy with an incredibly skeptical expression on his face,” said Hanf. “When we saw it, several of us exclaimed different things about what Casey was thinking and then I said, ‘What do you mean you haven’t bought your yearbook yet?’”
The staff kept digging into the archives and found more photos that made great memes, then went about getting permission to use them from the students featured in the pictures.
The memes got posted around the school last week, and Hanf said over the past 10 days they have sold 30 yearbooks.
“Everyone has loved them and I’ve even had teachers come up to me and say how much they liked seeing them,” Hanf said.
